How we, as lawyers, communicate with our lay clients is something that has always fascinated me.

I was called to the Bar in 2001, dual-qualifying as a Solicitor in 2008. I’ve often found that the Latin maxims that we may view as the tools of our trade are seldom of comfort to an accused who will only really want to know if he’ll be out for Christmas!

This prompted me to develop various client-centric leaflets, alongside traditional printed newsletters, to demystify legalese. The idea was a “soft cross-sell” of property services to litigation clients and vice versa.

Twenty years on, I am a Member of the Chartered Institutes of Marketing (MCIM) and Public Relations (MCIPR), creating unique, engaging content for law firm clients. 

  • Providing unique, engaging content helps retain your existing clients, past and present, using that soft cross-sell to transform their perception from ‘Yer man who did my Will’ years ago to: ‘MY Solicitor’ – their go-to guy (or gal) for all matters legal!

To research, write, edit and produce an engaging blog post will probably take you at least a few billable hours. Why not give it a go? Now factor in spending those few hours next week doing something similar… and then the week after, and so on.
